LG1000 Theological Writing
This course serves as an introduction to the basics of theological writing. Students will be equipped with foundational skills related to academic honesty, citations, formatting, and the writing process, as well as other general requirements for being a successful seminary student, including time management and organization. This course is designed to be taken in the first term of the first year of a student’s program, although other students are welcome, and students will be encouraged to utilize this course to work on writing assignments from other concurrent courses.

LG0110 Biblical Hebrew
An introduction to Hebrew grammar and syntax. Reading and analysis of selected Old Testament texts, exploring the nature of translation and its relation to interpretation. In doing so, students come to see themselves as active participants in the work of interpreting Old Testament texts. Help is given in effective use of digital and print resources such as grammars, lexicons, and concordances. Mastery of basic vocabulary is stressed.

LG0220 New Testament Greek

LG4127 Reading Hebrew
Reading of selected passages from the Old Testament designed to provide the student with a working knowledge of biblical Hebrew through continued study of grammar, syntax and vocabulary. This course may be taken more than once with different topics.

LG4225 Reading Greek
Reading of selected passages from the Greek New Testament and cognate literature to improve students’ ability to translate fluently with the help of Bible software; identify how Greek grammar, vocabulary, and syntax are vital components of biblical interpretation; and communicate to others such exegetical insights in clear ways. The course also includes instruction in advanced concepts of Greek grammar and emphasizes knowledge of the most commonly occurring words in the Greek New Testament. This course may be taken more than once with different topics.

LG4525 Ministry with Latinos/as/xs - El ministerio con gente latina
This course is designed for students with some college level Spanish language ability who want to gain theological and ministerial competency in this language by practicing preaching, teaching and ministering in Spanish. A combination of readings, conversational practice, assignments and participation in Spanish-speaking churches and cultural and musical activities will hone skills and communication strategies for ministry among Spanish-speaking audiences and communities. Note: Before enrolling, students will need to Contact the Registrar (registrar@luthersem.edu). You will receive instructions on how to demonstrate mid-range intermediate college level ability in Spanish (online, via Augsburg University, no cost to student).
This course is not for native Spanish speakers.
